Do you like your name? Have you ever changed it? Does your name have a meaning or story behind it? What names are you called by? Do you have a nickname? Some say a cat has nine lives. If you had a range of imaginary lives, what would you do in them? If you could grow a wishing tree, what hopes, dreams and wishes would decorate it?
Using poetry, songs, short stories and other forms of the written word, local writer Emma will lead you through a discussion about names, dreams and imaginary lives. You may even find yourself inspired to write through one of the short creative activities included.

During the session there will be options for research, listening to and reading poetry, listening to music, writing about names and sharing ideas. There may even be time to day dream and think about tomorrow. The title of the session is taken from a poem by Roger McGough.
Local writer, Emma Priestley, studied English at Sheffield with the poet Ian McMillan as her tutor, then worked as a primary school teacher for 28 years. Recently she worked with Calderdale poet Winston Plowes on the project ‘Pick up a Pen’ with Hoot Creative Arts. Now she is a session worker for the Kirklees project Words in Mind. She was also a tutor for Words in Mind’s partnership project with the Huddersfield Literature Festival, Creative Voices.
