Girls will be Girls is a coming of age film with a difference. It's daring, brave and handles a whole array of subjects that can often be dicey, such as a mother and daughter relationship, self discovery, exploring relationships, especially those with the opposite sex, bullying and other difficult situations that young people have to endure. this is no easy task given the backdrop and mindset of 90's India, yet it does it so incredibly well. The acting is equally delightful as is the writing and direction of the film. The pace is deliberate and it's interesting that the mostly female crew were hired to make the acting a safe space.
With a hint of Malory Towers and other Enid Blyton tales, the script is easy going but the focus on Indian culture brings an interesting element to the tale. We would highly recommend watching this movie, especially for females from an Indian sub continent background. Go watch it with your mums.
